Stella Nova

Going to a place where you have never been before always means abstractly experiencing it. In my work I wanted to focus on and exaggerate that feeling of abstractness to a point where the beach of Deauville presented itself not as a beach, but as a new planet full of obscure shapes and figures that seemed to have come out of the seething ground or fallen from the sky.

I wanted to illustrate my experience of Deauville as reference to what everyone feels when stepping into the unknown.

I photographed this series during my Artist Residency in Deauville, France.
